SIX STORIES is a compendium of tales about life. The stories could be true, they span the imagination with realistic accounts of unexpected heroism, fantasy, cruel death, reminiscence, and even juvenile hijinks. There is also a serious story of an incident from war. The stories and characters are easy to relate to and may remind one of people and events from their own life. The book is well written and easy reading. This is another master piece from O’Connor who is a storyteller of the first order. If you like your stories real, straight forward, and interesting this is a book for you.
REVIEWS:
Great Book! The stories are refreshing and well written, although fiction, they could be real. The characters are everyday people and captivating, some remind me of people I know. I especially liked the story Meeting Elvis. The tale is of two old women who were best of friends growing up, but were separated by life and years that took them in different directions. Their chance meeting at a restaurant rekindles the fantasies of their youth in rural America and is a testament to how we might remember things from long ago when we ourselves are up in years. Do we remember things from our distance past as they were or as we wish it had been? Each of the six stories are different and equally as captivating and easy to read holding you in the story until the end. O’Connor is a talented writer and wonderful storyteller. SIX STORIES is a great read..

The stories have appealing characters and reflect real life. O’Connor’s stories hold your attention and I enjoyed that the endings leave one with something to think about --- the hallmark of a good story and a master storyteller. Bravo O’Connor! I give the work five stars!

REVIEWS:
"O’Connor is a master story teller. In Tittsworth he winds a tale that reflects the lives of many men who grew up in the 50s and 60s and served in Vietnam. The battle descriptions are realistic and reflect the way the war was fought at the small unit level. He’s spot on with the Hmong warriors of the Mike Force, they are the finest soldiers I had the honor to command. Tittsworth is an interesting yet serious book about coming of age while answering the nation's call. I highly recommend it."

War is mankind’s most basic endeavor, good or bad, it brings out the best and worst in humans. This book is a collection of stories drawn from real events during America’s war in VietNam and reflect life in combat as it was lived in a war zone. While the names have been changed and the incidents enhanced to make them more readable, the stories are about honorable men and what they did, lived through, and thought when called upon by their country to go to war.
REVIEWS:
"For those of us who served in Vietnam this book tells tales that we all experienced - some good, some bad - but it's a solid reflection of how life really was in that war zone. O'Connor did a great job telling his stories and this should be required reading for those that never served."

The story of Delbert Spool’s life is a truly American adventure. From birth Delbert was physically gifted and unique in many ways. The only son in a working class family he had a typical American upbringing in Hackensack, New Jersey. As Delbert grew he became an exceptional athlete, excelling at football and earning a scholarship to the University of Delaware. But college and his dreams were cut short by a string of personal tragedies that introduced him to death. His despair hardened him, and led him to the military where Del Spool was forged into a man. During two combat tours in Vietnam Del’s courage and combat skills earned him warrior status and the respect of all with whom he served. In a rapidly changing peace time Army Del chose to leave the service and the see what the civilian world was like for a disciplined, highly decorated, warrior.

“What a book! It seems to start as ribald satire and morphs into an interesting coming of age story where a young man finds himself in the military and through the harsh lessons of war. I found it interesting that through all his adventures and escapades he is always a gentlemen and showed concern for others. It’s not a “chick book”, but a good read!” Amy Foley, Scottsdale, Arizona
Delbert Spool is an interesting character and the tales of his life amazing. His adventures can probably be related to by many who grew up in America in the 1950-60s. That he finds himself in the Army is not unlike many young men of my generation and some of the stories remind me of my time in the service. If you’re looking for something easy to read, fun, and entertaining about the life of a studdly American male -- I recommend it!
